Exodus - Phil Redford

A work by LSA Member, Phil Redford, has been selected for a contemporary painting exhibition at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool.

Established in 1957, the John Moores Prize is held biennially with previous winners including David Hockney, John Hoyland, Peter Doig and Rose Wylie.  This year a record 3,357 paintings were entered from across the UK before being whittled down to just 70 works for inclusion in the show.  This year's prize winner is Graham Cowley for 'Light Industry'.

Phil's painting, Exodus, pictured above is in acrylic paint on three canvas panels.  It is a later, larger version of a painting included in the LSA Annual Exhibition in 2022.

"In the face of international horrors of our time, I simply felt need to make some kind of related visual statement"
